What are PVC Door Panels?

PVC door panels are not full doors, but rather the decorative, rigid sheets that are mounted onto a core structure (like a wooden or MDF frame) to create a complete door.

• Material: They are made from Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC), a versatile, durable, and cost-effective plastic.
• Form: Typically, they are produced as hollow profiles or multi-layer foam boards (often called PVC foam boards or PVC free-foam sheets). The hollow profile type is very common for interior doors.

How to Manufacture PVC Door Panels?

• PVC Compound: The base is PVC resin, a white powder.
• Mixing: The resin is blended with essential additives in a high-speed mixer.
• Feeding: The PVC compound is fed into the hopper of an extrusion machine.
• Plastification & Compression: The material travels through a barrel with a rotating screw. Heated zones melt the compound into a homogeneous, viscous plastic “dough.”

• Shaping – The Die: This is the heart of the PVC door panels production line. The molten PVC is forced through a specially designed die (a metal plate with a precise profile shape). This die gives the panel its final cross-sectional shape, including the front/rear faces, interlocking edges, and the internal hollow chambers (which provide rigidity, reduce weight, and improve insulation).

• Vacuum Sizing: As the hot, soft profile exits the die, it immediately enters a vacuum sizing tank. Here, it is pulled through precision-sized molds under a water spray and vacuum. This critical step calibrates the exact final dimensions and cools the outer skin to set the shape.
• Cooling Tanks: The profile then travels through longer water cooling tanks to solidify completely.
• Surface Preparation: The cooled panel is cleaned and may receive a primer coat for better adhesion.

• Cutting to Length: The continuously extruded panel is cut to standard door sizes (e.g., 1980mm, 2040mm, 2100mm) using an auto-saw.

• Packing: Panels are bundled, protected with corner guards and plastic wrap, and prepared for shipment to door assembly factories.
