What Types of Electrical Conduit Pipes and Production Process

The electrical conduit pipe is a critical component of modern electrical systems, providing a safe, durable, and cost-effective raceway to protect electrical wiring from a wide range of physical and environmental hazards. The electrical conduit pipes are favored for their corrosion resistance, light weight, ease of installation, and non-conductive properties.

Types of Electrical Conduit Pipes

Common Types of Electrical Conduit Pipes:

1. PVC Pipe: The main component is polyvinyl chloride, which is a rigid pipe. Its most notable feature is excellent flame retardancy—it self-extinguishes upon removal from the fire source, ensuring high safety. It also exhibits outstanding insulation and corrosion resistance, along with low cost.

2. HDPE Pipe: Made from high-density polyethylene, it is a flexible pipe. Its core advantages are exceptional toughness, strong impact resistance, and high compressive strength, allowing it to resist rupture even under deformation. It also demonstrates remarkable chemical corrosion resistance.

3. MPP Pipe: Composed mainly of polypropylene, it is a rigid pipe. Its two core advantages are high-temperature resistance (long-term service temperature can exceed 95°C) and high strength.

4. CPVC Pipe: Considered an enhanced version of PVC, it is produced through chlorination treatment. It retains the excellent flame retardancy of PVC while significantly improving heat resistance (maximum service temperature can reach 93°C–100°C). Its compressive strength and corrosion resistance are also superior to those of standard PVC.

Production Process of Electrical Conduit Pipes:

1. The production process for plastic wire conduits begins with precisely mixing PVC resin with stabilizers, lubricants, fillers, and other additives according to a specific formula. These materials are fed into a high-speed mixer for hot blending, ensuring even distribution and preliminary gelation. The mixed hot material is then cooled and conveyed via a hopper into an extruder.

2. Inside the extruder, the material is plasticized and melted into a viscous state through the combined action of screw shear and external heating. This molten plastic is then forced through a die head shaped to form the tube profile.

3. The emerging tube parison immediately enters a vacuum sizing sleeve, where negative pressure forces its outer wall against the sleeve to cool and precisely set the outer diameter. The sized conduit then moves into a vacuum spray cooling tank for complete cooling and solidification.

4. The cooled conduit is pulled continuously at a constant speed by a haul-off machine to ensure stable production. Finally, it is cut to predetermined lengths by an automatic cutter, inspected, and packaged for storage. The electrical conduit pipe production line is a continuous cycle of extrusion, sizing, cooling, haul-off, and cutting.

Advantages Electrical Conduit Pipes:

Protect Wiring: Shield electrical cables from physical damage, impact, moisture, chemicals, and UV radiation.

Contain Hazards: Prevent electrical faults (like short circuits) from causing fires or becoming a shock hazard by containing them within a non-conductive tube.

Provide Organization: Keep wiring neat, organized, and easily accessible for future changes, upgrades, or repairs.
